RISHAAN SHAH

RISHAAN, IN A NUTSHELL:

Rishaan is super focused and has been able to manage his time very well - his busy schedule requires that. Not only has Rishaan been nationally recognized as an elite diver, he has excelled in the classroom and extracurricular activities. Rishaan has excellent grades in accelerated courses, he has been recognized as an accomplished violinist.

Rishaan works hard and is simply a pleasant person to be around.

STUDENT:

Excellent grades - Rishaan performs very well in school, and takes several accelerated courses. A+

All-State Violinist - Rishaan is also very accomplished with the violin. He participates and excels in chambers, orchestra and performing outside of school.

Student first, Athlete second. That's the priority, and that's how decisions are made. In early 2026, Rishaan earned and was invited to represent AAU Team USA again, this time in Rome, Italy 🇮🇹.  He declined the invitation because he didn't want to miss too much school. Rishaan already manages his schedule and occasionally misses school for AAU and USA Diving national qualifying meets, so this international trip while very prestigious didn't make sense with his Student-Athlete priority mindset. In his words, "I'm okay, I don't want to miss school." Wisdom beyond his years. 🎓 👌

INTERNATIONAL DIVING:

Rishaan has been invited on a number of occassions to represent our country on the international stage. 

TEAM USA (AAU) INVITATIONS:

2025 - Budapest, Hungary -  as part of the 3rd Olympic Hopes International Diving Competition in November 2025. Top 10 in both 1m and 3m. Rishaan was the Top American on 1m springboard.  

2026 - Rome, Italy -  as part of the 16th Roma Junior Diving Cup  (Rishaan declined this invitation because of school)

2026 - Poland (anticipated invite)

Rishaan is a  two-time AAU All-American (2025, both 1m and 3m) 

CLUB DIVING:

There are 2 pathways for elite club diving (competes within age class across the country) - USA Diving and AAU.  Rishaan competes in both pathways. 

There are 3 noteworthy National Meets, AAU RWB Nationals, AAU Nationals and USA Diving Nationals.

2025: Rishaan qualified and competed in all 3 national meets on both 1m and 3m springboard events. He placed Top 3 in the country on 1m springboard at AAU Nationals, boys 12.

2026: Rishaan has already competed in the AAU RWB Nationals.

PENFIELD VARSITY DIVING:

Beginning in 7th grade, Rishaan has competed on his school's Varsity high school diving team - Penfield High School Swimming and Diving. This is noteworthy because he is consistently competing against athletes much older than him. 

The milestone meet in high school is the NYS Diving Championship. Most of the athletes competing at States happen to be upper classmen. Rishaan was the youngest athlete to compete at the 2026 NYS Diving Championship.

BREAKING RECORDS:

Rishaan broke every diving record in Penfield's history.

--> Rishaan Shah holds the 6-dive Penfield High School record (set as a 7th grader)

--> Rishaan Shah holds the 11-dive Penfield High School record (also set as a 7th grader)

This basically means that any personal best performance at subsequent high school diving meet will be a 100% guaranteed new Penfield High School record. 😲 

NYS SECTION V, CLASS A CHAMPION:

--> Rishaan Shah is the 2026 NYS Section V, Class A Diving Champion 

1. Rishaan is the first Penfield athlete... ever to be Section V, Class A Diving Champ

2. Rishaan is the first 7th grader... ever to be Section V, Class A Diving Champ

PENFIELD VARSITY  OTHER HONORS:

* Undefeated. Nobody has beat him in dual meets... ever. Finished his 7th grade season 7-0 in dual meets

* Earned the PHS Swimming and Diving "Rising Star" Award in 7th grade

* Primetime585 Chick-fil-A Player of the Week, Week #8 January 2025

SIGNIFICANT HONORS:

* placed 20th as a finalist in the 2026 NYS Diving Championships (the highest finish ever by a Penfield diver)

* Penfield Swimming and Diving sent 5 athletes to States for the 2026 championships. Penfield brought home 1 point - Yay! Rishaan was the athlete who brought home that 1 point because he placed as a finalist in the diving competition. 

* 2026  Monroe County Public School Athletic Conference First Team All-County selection for Division 1 Boys Swimming and Diving 

*  Rochester Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester list for 2026 Boys Swimming Honorable Mention - the only Penfield swimmer or diver to make the list and the only 7th grader county-wide to hold the distinction 

MEETS, HERE THERE & EVERYWHERE

* USA AAU 🇺🇸  National Team Selection, 2025 - representing USA in Budapest, Hungary (2025). Elite divers competed from Austria 🇦🇹, Germany 🇩🇪, Hungary 🇭🇺, Spain 🇪🇸 , and USA 🇺🇸. Rishaan placed Top 10 in both 1m and 3m springboard events (9th place on both, and the top American on 1m)

12 year old Rishaan Shah has SET 2x different Penfield Varsity diving records, and IMPROVED his own record 1x more time... during his dream 7th grade season. He is leaving a lasting mark on the Penfield High School Swimming and Diving program.

- Rochester Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester list for 2026 Boys Swimming Honorable Mention. The only Penfield swimmer or diver to make the list and the only 7th grader county-wide to hold the distinction.
